Ethanol adds value to farm production
By increasing farm income and creating a growing market for America’s agricultural output, the ethanol industry helps reduce the cost of federal farm programs. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says that ethanol production in the U.S. adds 30 cents to the value of a bushel of corn. Other studies show that the per-bushel price of corn is five to eight cents higher in regions in which ethanol plants are located.
